Timo and Tintin
Timo and Tintin was a well-known coffee shop located in the Talad Noi area, Bangkok, Thailand. It was a space where design, art, coffee, and delicious treats came together.
The Role
I worked here from day one, back when the building was not even finished yet. I helped create and craft recipes for coffee, matcha, and other drinks. Everything was done from scratch, from finding suppliers and managing inventory to taking care of the team and customers.
It was hard to define my role at Timo and Tintin because I did almost everything to keep things running smoothly. I learned how to make coffee, tea, and all kinds of drinks. Sometimes I was a cashier, sometimes a barista, sometimes a server. I cleaned, fixed broken things, designed when needed, coordinated with partners, artists, designers, and design clients, maintained social media, and responded to customers across all platforms.
This experience reminded me that if you truly love and enjoy what you do, every day doesn’t feel like work… I truly felt that here :-)
The Space
I can say 100% that this was not a normal coffee shop. It was a place that supported creative dreams, from juniors to masters. Over 4 years, we collaborated with many artists and studios, such as Bangkok Design Week, Timo and Tintin x Painterbell x Phannapast, SIP & Spin (Timo and Tintin x Gad House), Timo and Tintin x BKK NFT Artists, and many more…
The Events
Timo and Tintin also had opportunities to do pop-ups and collaborations with many clients, including Siam Center, CentralWorld, AIS Flagship (Siam Square), Coffee Pop-Up for New Balance @ CentralWorld, and Special Drinks for GANNI x New Balance, among others.
The Design
The success of Timo and Tintin was supported by one of Thailand’s well-known creative studios, Design by Dinsor (P’O Pelagan and P’Bon), who are masters in branding and graphic design. I learned a lot from working closely with them.
During my time here, I wasn’t heavily involved in the design work itself. However, P’O gave me an exciting opportunity to take on a client-facing role, handling communication, coordinating projects, and meeting with clients. I worked with a wide range of clients, from small businesses to large brands such as Samsung, AIS, HOKA, and more…
The Opportunities
Timo and Tintin had the opportunity to pop up in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The owner gave me the chance to lead my first international event. It was an unforgettable experience to run a booth and brew coffee for people abroad for the first time.
Leading this event taught me many valuable lessons, and it was incredibly rewarding to see so many people connect with and love our brand.
The Family
Overall, I learned so much during my time here. I’m very thankful to P’O for always trusting me to make decisions, letting me try new things, and teaching me about branding and how to survive during COVID-19.
One sentence P’O said to me that I will always remember was:
“Let Timo and Tintin be your playground. If you want to try anything, let’s try.”
Thank you again for all the opportunities.
At first, I always told myself that I didn’t want to work in a family business because I had heard many stories about how chaotic it could be. But this time was different. Working here felt like my second home. I gained two best sisters(P’Dudy and Prai) and one brother, N’Nel, who are still part of my life today :-)
