Beyond Expectations

β€œBeyond Expectations” was a jewelry collection inspired by the bravery, loyalty, and sacrifice of military dogs. This project was my art thesis at Silpakorn University.

The collection was inspired by K9 dogs, including Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, and Labrador Retrievers. Each breed represents different qualities such as a strong sense of smell, strength and power, intelligence, and courage. These traits became the foundation for the characters and forms within the collection.

β€œBeyond Expectations”

The Making

The collection was inspired by K9 dogs, including Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, and Labrador Retrievers. Each breed represents different qualities such as a strong sense of smell, strength and power, intelligence, and courage. These traits became the foundation for the characters and forms within the collection.

I translated these characteristics into metal materials, primarily brass, to express strength, honesty, and rawness. The material choice reflected both the physical power of these dogs and their grounded, real presence, turning each piece into a symbol of resilience and loyalty.

As a dog lover, this was my first dog-inspired collection. From the beginning, I imagined it as a mock-up for a charity project. I wanted to transform the courage of these heroic dogs into wearable jewelry that could exist in a commercial space, with part of the proceeds supporting dogs in need, allowing these heroes to help other dogs who were less fortunate.

After graduating, I didn’t yet have the chance to continue this project in a serious way. Still, I hope that one day I’ll be able to return to this idea, look back with new experience, and make it real.
